Five Reasons Water Is So Important

We all know it is important, and we all know we should be doing it. But do we know why? Well, first of all, it makes up 60 percent of your total body weight and a startling 90 percent of brain weight. Sufficient hydration is essential for your body to function at all, let alone absolutely. It is my five reasons water is important.

1. Water gives us energy.

Water delivers important nutrients to all of our cells, especially muscle cells, postponing muscle fatigue.

2. Water helps weight loss.

Water helps you feel full longer, without adding any additional calories. Drinking water or eating foods with high water content can be a big help in managing your weight.

3. Water helps indigestion.

Water helps in constipation and other abdominal issues. Water helps to move the digestive process along and through the system.

4. Water detoxifies.

Moves toxins through your system faster, and optimizes kidney function. Insufficient hydration means insufficient kidney function.

5. Water hydrates skin.

Forget about expensive creams and cure-alls, water is the best defense against aging and wrinkles in the skin.

The average recommended amount is 15.5 cups of water for adult men and 11.5 cups of water for adult women, though this varies from person to person. Also, for girls 14-18, should use 10 cups of water, and boys 14-18 should use 14 cups of water. Those who exercise regularly, work outside, or have chronic medical conditions should consume more water to compensate for more water loss.

Remember, water is your friend, and proper hydration is a key to good health.
